‘Tis the season for accidents to happen.

When it comes to car accidents, paramedics are often the first health care professionals who attend to your needs. Their job is to assess whether you should be rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment or deal with any life-threatening injuries right on the scene. Some people have pain and tension right away. For others, the symptoms may get worse over time. Whether the impact occurs from the front, rear or sides, your neck is usually the most vulnerable area of your body in any motor vehicle accident. Car collisions involve rapid changes in acceleration and deceleration. Your body is held relatively still by a seat belt, whereas your head and neck are free to move. The low back can also be injured depending on circumstances during the collision. This typically results in the neck moving very rapidly through an excessive range of motion, contributing to hyperflexion-hyperextension injuries that can affect soft tissues in the neck, as well as joint capsules and intervertebral discs. Headaches and neck pain: Acupuncture can help

A headache is a pain in the head due to a cause. Headaches may result from any number of factors, including tension, muscle contraction, vascular problems, withdrawal from certain medications, injury or a joint restriction. Headaches fall into three main categories: tension-type, migraine and cervicogenic. Tension-type headaches are the most frequent. People who endure tension-type headaches usually feel mild to moderate pain on both sides of the head. The pain is usually described as tight, stiff or constricting, as if something is being wrapped around your head and squeezed tightly. While migraines affect far fewer people and have a much shorter duration, however, their symptoms are much more severe. They typically affect women more frequently, with pain that usually occurs on one side of the head. Migraines can be so severe that they can cause loss of appetite, blurred vision, nausea and even vomiting. Cervicogenic headaches are the most recently diagnosed type of headache and are caused by muscle or jo ...

Does Your Child Have Digestive Problems? Some solutions to tummy aches and bathroom issues.

If your child is suffering from these problems, the cause and cure is often diet. Consider permanently reducing or eliminating processed foods. They contain a multitude of problematic substances, GMOs (genetically modified organisms), and chemicals, while lacking fiber and nutrients. Instead, use whole, single ingredients to make a meal, for example: chicken, sweet potatoes drizzled with olive oil, and broccoli. A high sugar diet is another common cause of digestive issues. Sugar inflames the gut, interferes with proper immune function, and causes overgrowth of the wrong bacteria while inhibiting growth of good bacteria. A high quality probiotic (a supplement of the helpful types of bacteria) can be extremely beneficial, but often won’t help much if the diet has a lot of processed, high sugar, or immune system-triggering foods. The next things to consider temporarily eliminating are these commonly problematic foods and drinks: dairy, gluten, eggs, peanuts, corn, and soy. (Almost all of the corn ...

Tingling, Painful or Numb Hands: Simple effective care with long term results.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is an injury caused by a pinched or compressed nerve typically in the wrist but may be associated with the forearm or the neck. The prolonged compression of this nerve, in any of the three spots mentioned causes pain and numbness in the fingers and the hand. An accurate and thorough physical examination and history can save time and money by finding the cause of the symptoms and prevent surgery on a ligament that is not the cause. A person with this condition may have night/daytime tingling in the hands, disturbed sleep as a result, the fingers may feel useless, a sense of swelling in the fingers or hand when none is visible, loss of strength in the hand over time, and pain shooting up the arm as far as the neck or shoulder. Many CTS symptoms are related to the compression further up the nerve tract in the forearm or in to the neck not directly in the wrist. It is often observed that the actual carpal tunnel is not the culprit of the pain and symptoms. A major contributor is t ...

Micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, organic acids, phytonutrients) are often ignored, but vitally important for healing, detoxification, energy, and metabolic regulation, especially since Type 2 Diabetes, and some of the medications used to treat it and associated conditions, can deplete the body of micronutrients much more rapidly than usual.
