What if your symptoms weren't something to suppress, but signals guiding you back to health?"
Dr. Pamela Langenderfer is a naturopathic physician, acupuncturist, and leader in functional and hormone medicine who is redefining what it means to truly care for patients in midlife and beyond. But her path into this work wasn't just professional-it was deeply personal.
Since childhood, she struggled with asthma, eczema, and hormone imbalances, navigating a system that offered temporary fixes but never real answers. It wasn't until she discovered the profound impact of blood sugar balance, nutrition, and root-cause medicine that her own health began to transform. That experience didn't just change her life-it defined her calling.
Dr. Pam also saw the same pattern repeated in her patients-being told their labs were "normal," their symptoms dismissed, and their care reduced to quick visits and prescriptions that failed to address the underlying cause. She knew there had to be a better way.
This realization led her to pursue advanced training in functional medicine, naturopathic endocrinology, Chinese medicine and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, developing a precision-based approach that views the body as an interconnected system-not a collection of isolated symptoms. Her philosophy is simple but powerful: when you support the foundations-nutrition, gut health, detoxification, lifestyle, and hormone balance-the body has the ability to heal, regulate, and thrive.

At Lakeside Holistic Health, she leads a concierge-style model designed for those seeking a deeper level of care and a personalized patient experience -where time, access, education, partnership and precision matter. Her patients are not rushed, dismissed, or reduced to lab ranges; they are guided through a structured, comprehensive process that restores energy, balances hormones, and creates lasting transformation.
This is not traditional medicine, this is a new standard of care.
I know food is your foundation to better health, because I've lived it.
I grew up on a farm in rural Michigan, active in 4-H and competitive in sports. On the surface, it looked like the picture of healthy living. But I was far from it. Chronic ear infections meant round after round of antibiotics. Severe eczema and asthma led to years of steroid use. And without realizing it, all of that was quietly wreaking havoc on my gut and my hormones.
My relationship with food was broken, too. Every time I ate, I felt bloated, puffy, and defeated. What followed was years of feeling depressed, exhausted, and disconnected from my own body, punctuated by intense hypoglycemic episodes that sent me crashing through cycles of anxiety, cravings, and fatigue. The swings were so dramatic, I was calm one moment, then anxious, shaky, and snapping at everyone. My family jokingly dubbed it my 'Hulk' episodes, though at the time there was nothing funny about how I felt.
In 1992, I started college studying health, fitness, and nutrition, desperately searching for answers. But nothing I was learning touched how I actually felt. By 21, my symptoms had intensified and my hormonal health was unraveling. I knew there had to be a better way.
In the summer of 1995, I found it, Naturopathic medicine. The philosophy stopped me in my tracks. I knew immediately it was what I was meant to do.

What I discovered changed everything. Naturopathic, Functional, and Chinese medicine all share a foundational truth: nutrition is the cornerstone of health. Food wasn't the enemy. It was medicine I hadn't learned to use yet.
As I began to understand the connection between what I was eating and how I was feeling, the pieces finally started to fall into place. The bloating, the crashes, the exhaustion, the hormonal chaos was actually caused by the food choices I had genuinely believed were healthy. Eliminating the wrong foods and learning to nourish my body with the right ones didn't just reduce my symptoms, i changed the way I experienced being alive. My energy stabilized, my mood lifted and the "Hulk episodes" faded. For the first time, I felt like I was actually living in my body rather than just surviving it.
That personal breakthrough became my professional mission. I wanted every patient to experience what I had, not just relief from symptoms, but a true, lasting restoration of vitality rooted in understanding their own body.
In 2002, I relocated to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where my husband Dr. Jerry Bailey and I co-founded Lakeside Holistic Health, PLLC, now serving patients across the Inland Northwest from two locations in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Liberty Lake, Washington.
Dr. Langenderfer believes a body cannot flourish without the right foundation and that foundation looks different for every patient. Her approach weaves together naturopathic medicine, Chinese medicine, functional medicine, hormone health, and genetic insight to uncover the why behind your symptoms rather than simply managing them. Whether the path forward involves nutrition, hormone optimization, or understanding how your unique biology shapes your health, she meets you where you are and builds from there.
